Otukpo LG Chairman, Alli Commends Avail FC, City Queens For Their Performance At ESLF Football Tournament

The Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Rt. Hon. George Alli, has congratulated Otukpo Local Government male and female team, Avail football Club and City Queens respectively, for their performance at the just concluded ESLF football tournament, 2022.

The outgoing Chairman gave the commendation at the end of the tournament which was organized by Eunice Spring Of Life Foundation (ESLF), founded by the First Lady of Benue State, Her Excellency, (Mrs) Eunice Erdoo Ortom, PhD.

Avail FC lost in the finals of the male category 0-1 to Cambridge FC of Gboko, in a keenly contested match; while City Queens won the 3rd place match in the female category to claim the bronze medal at the Benue State University football field.

The Otukpo Chairman who is also an ESLF Goodwill Ambassador, said; ” First of all, I congratulate the first Lady of Benue state for this great initiative of taking football back to the grassroots. Although our boys did not lift the trophy as expected, haven made it to the finals. Our girls also finished 3rd: kudos to them! I am proud of their performances and I want to use this moment to commend everyone of them warmly.”

According to the First Lady, Dr. Eunice Ortom, the objective of the tournament is to offer young talented male and female a needed platform to showcase their God given skills for the world to see their potentials, with the hope that some of them who are good will be picked, nurture and developed to enable them achieve great success in life.

The tournament which was attended by Governor Samuel Ortom and his wife and the wife of the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Justice Mary Abounu; the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly and PDP 2023 Governorship candidate, Engr. Titus Uba and his wife, attracted lots of dignitaries from within and outside the state: including members of state executive council, captains of industries, members of football community which includes, ex nationals and Atlanta 96 gold medalists, Emmanuel Babayaro and Tijani Babangida; the Immediate past Super Eagles Coach/ Former Super Eagles international, Austin Eguavoen. The Sports Minister, Mr. Sunday Dare was ably represented by Mr. Daniel Kolawale.

Others are, Former National team player and General Manager of Lobi Stars, Dominic Iorfa; veteran coach of defunt BCC lions of Gboko, James Peters, former BCC Lions and national team player, Moses Kpakor, Amongst others.
