Ojo-Lanre’s Remarkable Journey Inspires New Hope for Tourism, Legal Practice in Nigeria

A distinguished legal practitioner, tourism expert and seasoned public servant, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre has continued to earn accolades for his outstanding contributions to national development, particularly in the tourism sector.

Armed with a rich academic background, Ojo-Lanre holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History Education from Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Lead City University, Ibadan.

He is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, reflecting his strong footing in the legal profession.

His career trajectory spans journalism, tourism administration, and public service, where he has made significant impacts.

Ojo-Lanre has served as Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Associate Editor of Tourism Nigerian Tribune, Chief Press Secretary to the Ekiti State Governor, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Oyo State, Director-General of the Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, and Senior Special Assistant on Tourism Development.

Widely regarded as a driving force in tourism promotion, Ojo-Lanre has received numerous recognitions for his dedication.

These include a National Award by the Federal Government of Nigeria for his contribution to tourism development in 2003, the prestigious Africa Travel Award in Durban, South Africa in 2004, and the Best Tourism Journalist in Nigeria Award in 2017.

His international recognition is further underscored by his appointment as the Goodwill Tourism Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire in Nigeria, as well as being a recipient of the Indonesia Ambassador’s Award in Nigeria.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ojo-Lanre remains actively engaged in key professional bodies. He currently serves as President of the Guild of Tourism Journalists in Nigeria and is a member of the International Tourism Journalists

Association. He is also a Fellow of the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.
