The Founder of Opeyemi David Falegan (ODF), Hon Opeyemi David Falegan has provided free petrol to commercial motorcycle riders, better known as Okada riders, in Ado-Ekiti.
The supply of free fuel was launched at Adekanitan petrol station, Falegan along Ilawe Road in Ado with the riders forming long queues to benefit from the gesture.
Many of the beneficiaries decorated their bikes who were hailing and showering accolades on ODF for the gesture . They got some litres of fuel each in the scheme which lasted several hours.
The fuel station was besieged by the riders as soon as the news spread that free fuel was being supplied at the outlet.
The Founder urged the riders to be calm that all of them will be attended to.
Falegan appearance at venue around 10am turned the filling station to a carnival as the riders hailed his gesture and recalled what he has been doing over years
The gesture, according to the Founder of the foundation, Hon. Opeyemi David Falegan, the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy on the masses.
Speaking at the program, his action was predicated on his policy and practice of always giving back to society.
According to him, life should not always be what one would get, but about what one would give, adding that people should not continue to wait on government and the economy but to go ahead to support the suffering masses in their own little.
“I believe that if everybody begins to contribute in their own little way can make this country great,” he said, adding, “that is why I decided to do this .”
Falegan, who added that the kind gesture has being in existence for years.
“We decided to give back to society so that we can inspire somebody looking at us to say, if these guys can give out, let me also give out.
ODF, pointed out that people should not wait until they have become so rich or achieve certain heights before they can assist others in need.
A beneficiary, Tunji Fowowe, hailed Falegan for the free fuel supply which he said would add value to their business.
Another rider, Gbemiga Ajayi, thanked ODF of the gesture describing him as the “true friend of the masses”.
