The train of Ekiti Obas Cup Trophy Tour moved to Ikere-Ekiti on Wednesday as the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti and Olukere of Odo-Oja Ikere hosted the organizer of the under 18 soccer competition.
At the palace of Oba Adejimi Adu (Ogoga of Ikere) the royal father warmly embraced the trophy as he offered royal blessings.
The Ogoga welcomed the initiative of the Obas Cup with the hope that it will entrench unity and growth in the state.
Some youths who have expressed readiness to parade a team on the name of the Ogoga came to formally inform the royal father about their intention.
Similarly, the Obas Cup trophy was in the palace of the Olukere of Odo Oja in Ikere, Oba Ganiyu Obasanyin who is a known sports enthusiast and supporter.
The Oba called for more sporting competitions to gainfully engage the youth and take them away from social vices especially prior, during and after the elections.
He prayed for the success of the Ekiti Obas Cup season 1 which will hopefully kick off on April 27 while assuring that he will personally support the competition morally and financially.
The Trophy Tour which had earlier been to the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe will be moving to Oye Local Government today (Thursday March 17) where the Oloye of Oye Ekiti and the chairman Ekiti Obas Council, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon (Onisan of Isan-Ekiti) will be hosting the organizers.
Prominent personalities in Ekiti State will soon host organizers of the Ekiti Obas Cup during the next phase of the trophy tour while all teams that have indicated interest to participate in the competition will be invited for a parley before the month runs out.
Registration begins early next month organizers intensify their sponsorship drive prior to the kickoff.
