Following the postponement of the week 3 encounter in the Nigeria National Football League (NNL 2022) , Ekiti United FC will today (Sunday) slug it out with J. Atete FC in a week 4 game.
The match comes up at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado by 4pm.
Recall that Ekiti United lost their first match against Osun United before winning their week 2 encounter against Abeokuta Stormers .
While the week 1 match was away to Osun United, the week 2 encounter was played in Ado Ekiti a fortnight ago.
Ekiti United needed an all important last minute goal against Abeokuta Stormers to grab their first maximum points in the 2022 season as their resilience paid off few seconds to the end of the match with the solitary goal from Femi Ojo who came in as a substitute late in the game.
Thanks to the efforts of another substitute, Bolu Afolabi who pushed the defence of Abeokuta Stormers to the brink with some vigour.
Ekiti United main striker, Timothy Akinyemi had a couple of chances but the goalkeeper of the visiting Abeokuta Stormers was quite brilliant between the sticks.
Ahead of today’s week 4 match, the head of Ekiti United FC, Kayode Olujohungbe has gone back to strategize on the team’s goal scoring department .
Coach Kay said more work needed to be done on the striking force while work has not stopped on other departments including the midfield and defence.
He assured fans at home and abroad that the team will fire from all cylinders today but said the tactics to be adopted shall be kept to himself until the match.
On his path, the Team Manager, Adedeji Adu said the players have been in high spirit preparatory to the week 4 game with an assurance that the management will continue to strive towards putting the team in good stead for good performances in all games both in the league and other fixtures.
In the meantime, the Ekiti United FC Supporters Club led by Mr Sunday Afolabi has called for more support from well meaning people of Ekiti State for the states owned team .
Afolabi fondly called Soro assured that members of the Supporters Club will continue to rally round the team in their matches both at home and away with a call on the state government to sustain it’s financial and moral support for the team.
In other week 4 matches of the Southern Conference B2 decided on Saturday, Bendel Insurance beat Ibom Youths 3-1 in Benin while Giant Brillars FC pipped Abeokuta Stormers by a lone goal.
Elsewhere, Ikorodu City beat Gateway Utd 1 nil in Lagos
The most interesting match of week 4 took place in Lagos as Vandrezzer scored 4 goals and conceded 2 against Osun United.
