Heritagenewsng.com reports that one of the major contenders for the House Representatives position in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has dropped out from the contest.
This was made known in a signed statement by him today which was obtained by our correspondent via his Facebook page.
According to the former Deputy Speaker in Ekiti state House of Assembly, his decision was taking above personal interest, in order to make it easier for the party leadership to manage the process of the upcoming primaries to be as rancour-free as possible and in order not to affect the June 18, 2022 governorship elections.
“My dear people, this position I have taken has been after very extensive consultations that have necessitated putting the collective interest above personal interest, in order to make it easier for our party leadership to manage the process of the upcoming primaries to be as rancour-free as possible, in order not to affect the June 18, 2022 governorship elections. As a loyal party man, I defer to the collective wisdom of our party leaders and stakeholders”
The APC party leader from Irepodun-Ifelodun thanked his supporters who have been calling on him to join the race for the House of Reps ticket and made it known to them that it is not yet time.
“I am responding to your call today but not in affirmative. I am responding to let you know that I hear you, but I plead that we would not be going in that direction at this time. As you know, I believe very much that all power belongs to the Almighty God, and it is He who puts people in positions at every time and season as He pleases. Our time will come by God’s grace”
He stated further that his focus for now is to work with other party stakeholders to ensure the victory of APC governorship candidate, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji come June 18.
