N3.4bn: Police Arrest Bank Officials Planning Robbery 

Nigeria’s METROPolice have arrested bank officials planning a robbery and hackers trying to steal N3.4bn. 

The Inspector-General of Nigerian Police, Usman Baba, has rephrased that his administration will not go back in fighting crimes and criminality in Nigeria.

In a statement made by police force spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, the IGP of police hailed the Oyo Command and the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Squad (FIB-IRT) for their most recent successes.

Usman Baba also commended the increasing deployment of technologically advanced assets, improved police visibility and community-based traditional policing methods, saying that those achievements have helped the force in identifying, trailing and arresting criminal suspects.

The IGP of police then announced the list of arrests made by the police since the beginning of the year by listing the arrests of two bank officials and a known gang of bank robbers, four of whom were nabbed planning to attack a new generation bank at Ibadan metropolis in Oyo.

The Force intelligence bureau intelligence response squad (FIB-IRT) also nabbed five members of a fraud group who specialized in breaching bank accounts of individuals and corporate bodies as they tried to hack into a company’s account to steal 3.4 billion, and lastly, the IRT operatives nabbed known arms dealers and two kidnap suspects in Kaduna, which led to their victims being released.

The spokesman for the police said that those suspects will be charged in court once their investigation is concluded.
