Mr Speaker’s Diary! From 27th Nov.2023 to Date With Photos

After a well-deserved recess, which has allowed for a brief hiatus in the reports of my activities, I resumed my duties with fervor and dedication. Upon my return to Ekiti on Sunday, November 27th, I engaged in a multitude of significant events that have underscored the commitment to governance and service to the people.

Notably, I participated in the local government election campaigns, witnessing the subsequent triumph of all candidates from our great party, APC. The legislative activities recommenced on December 3rd, marking the end of the annual recess and the beginning of a period of substantial parliamentary engagements.

On Tuesday, December 4th, the bill on Assets Management of Ekiti State passed through its first reading alongside the Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2. Additionally, I had the honor of hosting the President of the Customary Court of Appeal and her team for a courtesy visit. On the same day, I met with members of the Human Rights Commission, Ekiti State Coordinate in my office to discuss areas of collaboration to address human rights abuses and to plan a joint action against girl child abuses in commemoration of this year’s 16 days of activism.

During this time, I had the privilege of engaging with various esteemed individuals and organizations. From hosting members of the Justice Development and Peace Initiatives, led by Rev Fr. Akingbade, to declaring open a technical session organized by the PLSI, a McArthur Foundation, for legislators, I have been deeply involved in discussions and initiatives aimed at advancing the welfare of our society.

As the management team of Access Bank visited to explore areas of collaboration, and the youth of Ijowa and Irele Ekiti sought to address community security concerns, I remained resolute in my commitment to fostering positive change.

On Thursday, I witnessed the inauguration of the Ekiti State Youth Parliament at the chamber of the Ekiti State House of Assembly. I also had the privilege of receiving Chief R. O. Balogun, a newly elevated member of the prestigious Inner Bar, who was recently appointed as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in my office.

In the midst of these activities, I had the honor of joining other dignitaries in celebrating the opening of TAJ suites by Mrs. Tokunbo Ajila Jakande. Furthermore, I traveled to Lagos to witness the marriage ceremony of Gbenga, the Technical Assistant to Mr. Akin Oyebode, the Commissioner for Finance in Ekiti State, marking the culmination of a busy and eventful two weeks.

As I reflect on these engagements, I am reminded of the words of John F. Kennedy: “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past.

Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.” These words encapsulate the spirit with which I approach my responsibilities, striving to uphold the ideals of service, collaboration, and progress for the benefit of all.

Thank you!

Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye
Speaker Ekiti State House of Assembly
