Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijero Local Government have firmly rejected claims that a recent visit by Hon. Dapo Karonwi to Hon. Wunmi Ogunlola translated into an official endorsement of his candidacy.
In a rejoinder jointly signed by Pa David Olomojobi, Hon. Mike Ajibola, Chief Dapo Falomo, Hon. Adeola Adeyemo, Hon. Samuel Dada, and Aladeokin Sunday, the party leaders described the reports as false, misleading, and a distortion of the true situation within the APC structure in Ijero.
They clarified that the visit was strictly a personal and political courtesy call by an aspirant to one of his supporters, who is also a party stakeholder, noting that such engagements are common in a democratic setting and should not be misinterpreted as a collective endorsement.
“For the avoidance of doubt, no formal meeting of APC leaders in Ijero Local Government was convened to deliberate on or adopt any aspirant for the House of Representatives seat,” the statement read. “The absence of key leaders and stakeholders at the gathering clearly nullifies any claim of endorsement.”
The leaders also reaffirmed their confidence in the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Biodun Omoleye, describing him as a committed and dependable representative whose contributions continue to foster unity and progress within the party.
They stressed that any endorsement or political declaration made outside the established decision-making framework of the party remains purely personal and cannot be attributed to APC leadership in Ijero Local Government.
The statement urged party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the circulating claims, reiterating the party’s commitment to due process, internal democracy, and collective decision-making as political activities gather momentum.
