Just In: Final Results of The Presidential Election in Ekiti
The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been declared winner of the election in Ekiti State, having polled a total 201, 484 to defeat other candidates in the Presidential election held across the 16 local government areas of the state on Saturday.
The APC Candidate was trailed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) who polled 89, 554 and 11, 397 respectively.
Prof. Akeem Lasisi, the Ekiti State Presidential Election Collation Officer, while announcing the results at the INEC Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, on Sunday said the state has 988, 923 as its total number of registered voters.
He said, “the total number of accredited voters is 315, 058, total number of vote cast 314, 472, total number of valid votes 308, 171 and the total number of rejected votes is 6, 301.
The State Collation Officer listed the figure scored by other major contenders in the election as follows: Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) 89, 554; Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), 11, 397.
Prof. Lasisi, who described the turnout of voters in the state as very encouraging and impressive, based his observation on the total number of vote cast by the electorates during the Presidential election.
“Yes the turnout was very impressive as you can see from the number of people that came out to exercise their franchise,” he said.
The State Secretary of APC, Mr Garuba Arogundade, who was the party’s agent for the election, said, “the votes polled by the party is a reflection of the popularity of APC and the fact the party was and still highly connected with the people of the State,”.
