The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has appointed Hon. Barr. Babatunde Oke as Secretary of its Legal Affairs Directorate for the forthcoming governorship election, in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s legal framework and ensuring a credible electoral process.
Oke, Chairman of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary and Legal Matters, is a seasoned legal practitioner with over a decade of experience in litigation, constitutional law, and election dispute resolution.
The appointment, announced by the Directorate of Legal Affairs for the re-election campaign of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), reflects the party’s commitment to upholding electoral integrity, transparency, and strict compliance with legal and regulatory standards ahead of the 2027 governorship poll.
A ranking lawmaker representing Ikere Constituency I in the 7th Assembly, Oke also serves as the Spokesperson of the House. He previously held the position of State Assistant Legal Adviser of the APC in Ekiti State.
He played a key role in the party’s legal operations during the 2022 governorship election as Secretary of the Legal Team for Oyebanji’s campaign and was also a National Delegate at the APC presidential primary that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s candidate in the last general election.
In his new role, Oke is expected to coordinate legal strategies for the campaign, ensure compliance with electoral laws and guidelines, and provide advisory support to safeguard the integrity of the process.
The Legal Affairs Directorate, which oversees all legal components of the campaign, will be central to pre-election preparations, voter education on legal rights, and the management of post-election disputes.
