Is BAO Truly Worth His Weight In Gold?

Is BAO Truly Worth His Weight In Gold?

Foraying into political turf could be intriguing! It is really not a game for the callow. A neophyte, no doubt, will find it arduous to learn the ABCD of “Naija” politics. It is figuratively the more you look, the less you see.

The complexities of Nigerian politics are such that they can easily confound the “Solomons” of our time and launch them into a state of quandary. The evolving political equation has two major actors: the Used and the User.

Put succinctly, it is experiential that the impoverished Used is constantly at the mercy of political entrepreneurs who are unrepentant in exerting their asphyxiating grip on the jugular of the fat guinea pig (the Used). This has always been the totem of the Nigerian brand of politics.

The political guinea pig (the Used) who lives on survival mode is always pander to the whims and caprices of his master on the promise of monthly tokenism: chicken-feed, T-shirts and hampers as life support, but with deoxygenated cylinder in the real sense.

To avoid the risk of lubricating the ego of pretence, grant me the indulgence of concluding with absolutism that a larger chunk of politicians nowadays don’t really appreciate the true meaning of the word “promise”. For them, promise is no longer debt, but a manipulative weapon, or better still, an oratory skill deployed to hoodwink the electorate who are gathered in their large numbers to sing the praises of such politicians. Promises made by any political hucksters are mere false hopes, half-truths, and untruths, still-born and brazen falsehood!

With semantic precision, a promise is a verbal commitment to do (or not to do) something in the future.

In other words, a promise entails the promisor making a statement of genuine commitment to doing something for the promisee.

It is absolutely important to note that a promise is bound by time and performance so that the hope of the promisee will not be spread-eagled on the rack of doubt, suspense and futility.

If the biblical precept that man is created in God’s image holds water, it logically follows that human beings should be promise keepers not promise breakers because our God is a covenant- keeping God.

Therefore, alluding to man’s Adamic nature is no excuse for defaulting on any verbal commitment under the facade of politics.

My insatiable curiosity about leaders and promises resulted in spotting a searchlight on BAO, an acronym for Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State.

BAO commands my attention because he resonates with the MTN catch phrase “EVERY WHERE YOU GO”.
In other words, the descriptor “BAO” reverberates positivity in every nook and cranny of Ekiti State. It has become a renowned and valuable brand in every household. It is not an overstatement that it has been boldly imprinted in the encyclopedia of Ekiti politics.

Asia BAO lojude, Asia BAO lelele’s lyrics on a daily basis court Ekiti Kete’s drinking lobes (ears).

Held in a spell-bound capacity by the reason for BAO’s popularity in Ekiti state, an observer few days ago enthused rephrasing Shakespeare’s Cassius’ moving words: “why does BAO bestride Ekiti like Colossus within the short time of his tenure?”

This interrogative expression further provoked my curiosity about what sets BAO apart from his contemporaries and the following pertinent questions arose from my end:
What has made the name BAO so captivating in the hearts and minds of the highly intelligent people of Ekiti?
Does BAO’s scorecard truly merit the hefty price tag attached to his performance?
Can one say without reservation that BAO’s promises are worth thousands of ounces of gold?

The questions go on ad-infinitum.

BAO is simply a phenomenal leader whose promises are not hinged on mere political statements. He has strategically positioned Ekiti in the book of good governance by keeping his various promises.

One of the key factors that sets BAO apart is his prodigious talents in modern governance cum his unalloyed commitment to deliver on his electoral promises which are firmly situated on the six pillars of his administration: good governance, youth development and job creation, human capital development, agriculture and rural development, infrastructure and industrialization, arts, culture and tourism.

The significance of BAO’s promise and how it is equivalent to a thousand ounces of gold lies in his ability to captivate and motivate citizens, instilling hope and confidence in a better future for all Ekiti people. He says and does! What a promise-keeping governor God has blessed the Ekiti people with!

It is also fully etched in his mind that a promise is worthy of gold, that is, a symbol of wealth and fortune. It is a commodity that commands respect and admiration. Therefore, when the value of BAO’s promise is weighed, it merits a thousand ounces of gold. It speaks volumes about the potential impact of his commitment to promise and fulfill the obligations.

An unrepentant PROMISE KEEPER.

BAO has made a significant promise to the people of Ekiti state. This promise is not just about words; it holds immense value and it has transformed people’s destiny. It is a bold commitment that signifies his unwavering dedication to improving the quality of life and creating a more prosperous future for all in Ekiti State.

Succinctly put, a promise made by BAO is not just a random number; it represents the potential to transform the lives of every citizen in Ekiti state. It is a commitment to fixing broken systems, investing in infrastructure, and creating opportunities for growth and development. By delivering on this promise, the Governor ensures that everyone has a chance to thrive and succeed.

For BAO, promises are sacred, meant to be stringently kept. They are the foundations of trust, loyalty, and credibility. When he makes a promise, it is as though he is saying, “I value your trust, and I am committed to fulfilling my obligations.” This promise is worth a thousand ounces of gold because it signifies his dedication and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure that Ekiti achieves her shared goals and prosperity. Practical examples are: Saka’s musical instrument empowerment, purchase of a new tricycle for one young lady rider and many more.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. A leader is bound to find himself solving multifarious challenges. Multi-tasking in a way. Promises upon promises might be outstanding! To a promise- keeper like BAO, with time every obligation arising from him shall be fulfilled, God helping him.

It is our fervent prayer that God will grant him sound health and peace of mind to take Ekiti to her desired end.

RUN YOUR RACE MR GOVERNOR!
