Question. Please tell us about yourself?

Answer: My name is Oguntade Adejumoke Adesona, I’m born into a family of five and I am the first child of my parents. I’m an Entrepreneur. I attended Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Nursery and Primary School Ibowon, Epe, Lagos State from 1998 to 2002 thereafter moved to attend Sureway International High School, Elelewon, Port Harcourt where I obtained my SSCE in 2010. I gained admission into the prestigious Lagos State University where I studied English Education with degree in B.A.(Ed.) 2015. During my studies at the university, i experienced ASSU strike for some months. At the time, I was in 300 Level and Skills Aquisition was introduced as a course for all students, So I picked up a few months training in Fashion Design which further opened my eyes to more ways of empowering myself. After school, I was posted to Oyo State for my one Year Compulsory NYSC from 2016-2017. It was at the point that I came to terms with reality more that I have to make good use of every opportunity during my service year.

During my service year, I learnt how to make Bedsheets/pillowcases, duvets, curtains sets, installation of window blinds and home interior decoration.

While learning all that, I had high hopes that there will always be a day when the right opportunity will come for me to showcase all have learned. After my service, I applied for jobs in various organizations with the aim of saving some money to start my own business. To God be the glory. I was able to secure a job where I worked for a while before I decided to dive fully into business.

I started selling bedsheets/duvet and sometimes I do Home interiors. In my third year of running the business, I noticed that the bedsheets and duvet wasn’t selling fast all the time, so I began to brainstorm on what I could add to boost sales.

In 2018, i went to learn how to make Leather Bags, meanwhile, I was teaching in a school, so after work, I will resume to where I was learning how to make bags. After the training, I started making bags to sell to people at my work place and through referrals as well. One day, during my visit to the market for the production of Bags, I met a shoemaker lady who encouraged me to combine footwears and Bags that it is a lucrative business. I gave it a thought and I saw that it was a nice idea so we exchange contact that was how I decided to enrol for a training in shoe making.

When I started learning how to make shoes, the process was not that easy has I thought but I always put all my mind in anything I chose to do. After my one year training, I was officially recognised as a shoemaker. After my training, I had two apprentices I trained before I decided to settle down with my husband who resides in Ekiti State. So I relocated after my wedding from Lagos to Ekiti State where I now reside.
