A member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, has disclosed that he had attracted multimillion naira projects to his constituency-Ikole Constituency 2 in the last three and half years to fight poverty, insecurity and to improve the living status of his constituents.
Aribasoye said this in Ado -Ekiti today during an interactive session with a cross section of the media. He said during the Covid 19 pandemic he facilitated soft loans to the tune of N30Million to small scale businesses across his constituency. He stressed that the report from the monitoring exercise his team undertook clearly showed the positive impact of these loans on the beneficiaries and their immediate communities.
Aribasoye who is also the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Media and Public Affairs, said the 20 solar energy powered street lights he donated to 7 communities in the area have helped in improving the conditions of living of his constituents. This according to him has contributed to enhancing the security situation in the said communities.
The lawmaker also said he had facilitated N7 million Naira worth of Solar – powered boreholes each for the use of his constituents in Iyemero Ekiti, Esun Ekiti, Ipao Ekiti, Oke Ako Ekiti, Ijowa Ekiti, Irele Ekiti and Ayebode Ekiti. He added,
“I also donated a motorized borehole at the cost of N1.2m to Odo -Ayedun Ekiti. This he explained is a “ necessary intervention in response to the challenges faced by the people in this area in accessing drinking water”
Aribasoye further disclosed that he also facilitated the completion of Ele bridge linking Itapaji and Iyemero and the reconstruction of Arinkin bridge linking Oke Ako and Ijowa Ekiti.
He identified his other noteworthy interventions including the completion of the health centre at Oke Ayedun Ekiti. The reconstruction of St Stephen’s primary school at Ayebode Ekiti. A donation of N100,000 to the Federal University, Oye Ekiti distant learning centre at Ayedun Ekiti.
While speaking on his activities in the House, he stated that it was no coincidence that he currently holds two important offices in the house. These are the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs and the Chief Whip. According to him this was evidence of the confidence his colleagues had in his capacity. In addition he stated that he had sponsored four bills and moved several motions particularly on the socio-economic and security situation in his constituency. He stressed that at least two of the bills I sponsored continues to earn Ekiti State national recognition. The bills are the Ekiti State Gender-Based Violence (Prohibition (First Amendment) Bill 2020, Ekiti State Property Protection or Anti-Land Grabbing Bill 2020.
Aribasoye revealed that he had been partnering notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress on his constituency like its Senatorial Candidate in Ekiti North, Cyril Fasuyi, the House of Representatives Candidate, Akin Rotimi and Commissioner for Finance, Akin Oyebode, to ensure they pull their resources together in support of his constituents.
“For the Christmas and New year’s festivities, I partnered these able leaders for the donation of cash, rice and other consumables to my constituents”
Aribasoye further called on his constituents to keep faith with the All Progressives Congress and vote massively for its candidates in the forthcoming National and State Assembly elections.
