“I Do Make Not Less Than N90k Daily With The Uniform” -. Fake LASTMA
A fake traffic officer, David Oluchukwu has been arrested by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in the Lekki area of the state after he was caught extorting money from motorist in the metropolis, the Punch reports how he used the LASTMA Uniform to make a lot of money before he was caught.
The agency’s Director, Public Affairs Department, Taofiq Adebayo, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect noted that he was arrested after some of their patrol team saw him dressed improperly and they summoned him and found out he was a fake traffic officer.
The suspect, David Oluchukwu, 27, who confessed to the crime noted that he do make over N40,000 on a regular basis and sometimes if he arrests any motorist driving against the traffic, then he do charge them at least N50,000 and that would sum of to N90,000 daily, saying he do make not less than N90k daily with the uniform.
He said, “I am an indigene of Ukpu, Anambra State and on an average day I do male N40,000 daily from the illegal traffic business and any motorist that I arrest who is driving against the traffic, they must pay N50,000 before I allow them to go.”
Nevertheless, the General Manager, LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, who condemned that fake officer’s activities, urged motorists to be wary of fake officers demanding money from them, stating that the agency operated a cashless policy as any violators apprehended were charged with a ‘referral notice.’
