Ekiti State House of Assembly has expressed that the process for the screening and confirmation of commissioner-nominees recently held is yet completed until transmission of the House Resolution on same to the Executive.
A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, noted that though, the House conducted a thorough evaluation of the Commissioner-Nominees, but it is also important that the House fulfilled all legislative procedures at ensuring the final process of transmitting the confirmation list to the Executive.
The statement however added that while legislative norms requires that clean copies of the House Resolution on any matter brought before it be communicated to relevant authorities, it is important that the bureauctic segment under the headship of the Clerk of the House ensures it fulfilled all administrative requirements before signing and transmission to the implementing authority. This procedure is crucial to the suitability and capabilities of the individuals who will serve in such positions.
The Chairman, according to the statement, noted that due to the required procedures, the House has resolved to effectively fulfill all due process before formal communication of the list of successful nominees to the Executive for further action(s).
The statement concluded by assuring the public that the House will not compromise its commitment to do everything within the confine of legislation to promote matters that will help the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji carries out its duties without hindrances.
