How 2023 General Election Finally Retires Atiku

By Wasiu Owolewa

The long awaited 2023 presidential election has come and gone with the All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerging winner with a total of 8,794,726 votes while his major challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar came second with
6,984,520 votes.

The major issue here is not about the candidate or the party that won the election but the loser of that keenly contested election in name of Atiku Abubakar.

The PDP candidate is known to be a regular customer of Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) since 2007. He has contested for the Nation’s number one seat for four consecutive times without recording any electoral victory.

The Turaki of Adamawa who will be 77 come November 25 has lost his final battle to occupy the one seat. His loss in the 2023 election is like a hope finally dashed. If he has to try his luck again it will be in another years which is not sure the party will ever field him as their flagbearer again. And again age will no longer be on his side because by that time he will be 81.

The only option for Atiku is to hang his political boot and concentrate on his business and family. He should not allowed himself to be exploited again. If he doesn’t know what to do with his money, he should give it to charity organization.

The Fulani born politician should accept his faith and stop wasting his time. He should accept the outcome of the election because going to tribunal to challenge it will just be an effort in futility.
