History Is Repeating Itself In Four Years
By Gbenga Sodeinde
He was the most criticized and the most castigated yet, he was resolute and remained focused on delivering on the people’s mandate, all he wanted was to change the narrative for good but was greatly misunderstood by the same people he was sacrificially living for.
Four years ago, less than 100 days in office, Ugbokpo township, the headquarters of Apa Local Government Area was ravaged by serious flooding, affecting several homes and businesses; lives and property were lost, leaving his constituents broken and frustrated.
Pained by this ugly incident, the former reps member, Hon. Samuel Godday swiftly visited the scene, sympathised with the people and promised to provide lasting solution to the unfortunate situation which hitherto was a recurring disaster.
Less than two years into his tenure, the former Reps member embarked on a massive flood and erosion control project within Ugbokpo township which drastically reduced the impact of flooding around the affected area.
Four years later, history is repeating itself, the people are stranded, Hon. Godday is out of office and the loophole is being felt already.
Indeed, good things don’t last as we wished, we miss our most criticized Reps member already and we pray for better days ahead for Apa/Agatu.
