It was an atmosphere enveloped with joy as
popular social platform called Matured Minds celebrated its one year anniversary today, 21st August, 2021.
The event which took place at Dave hotel in Ado-Ekiti witnessed the presence of important dignitaries across the sixteen local governments in Ekiti state who are also members of the platform.
In his welcome address, the chief admin of the platform, Hon. Ehinafe Odunayo thanked God Almighty and expressed his profound appreciation to everyone who has contributed both financially and morally to make the historical event come to reality.
Hon. Ehinafe furthered in his welcome address that, “Matured Minds is a non-governmental, non-Profitable social political group, our membership cuts across Ekiti and beyond, our memb
ers belong to different political parties reason why we belong to everybody, and we belong to nobody”
He highlighted the aims and objectives of the group which include, services such as periodic visits to Orphanage homes, giving out of cash donation and gift items, giving out relief materials to victims of natural disasters among others.
Hon. Ehinafe also added that the platform has created an avenue for the exchange of ideas and expression of member’s mind on any government policy in a matured way.
The chief moderator of the epoch event, Hon. Toba Daramola who is also the former chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun gave kudos to the Chief admin of the platform and other members for their indebt contributions which has helped to make the Matured Minds platform more viable and ahead of other social media platforms.
A lecture with a topic, “The role of Social media in the 21st century” was delivered by Prof. Azeez Olaniyan of FUOYE from the department of political science to sensitise members on the importance of social media.
According to the guest lecturer, social media has acted as, “Source of information, source of knowledge, to change the society positively”
Prof. Olaniyan highlighted other importance of social which include, to educate and disseminate information.
He added that the existence of social media platforms such Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram has made it easier to assess and send information across.
The climax of event was presentation of awards to important personalities who are members of the platform for their humanitarian services, activeness, and invaluable contributions towards the progress of Ekiti state.
The awardees are, Senator, Abiodun Olujimi, Hon. Olusola Steve Fatoba(MHR) Hon. Abiodun Oyebanji, Ekiti state SSG, Mr Igbalojobi Sunday, Hon. Yemi Adaramodu(MHR), Mr Oba Mathew, Barrister Yemi Ayodele Ayeni(YAA), Hon. Bodunde Adeyanju(Ayanfe Gbonyin), Hon. Abiodun Omoleye, Ekiti Chief-Of Staff, Hon. Sunday Adunmo(Galaxy), Chief(Mrs) Yemisi Afolabi and Hon. Femi Bamisile(MHR).
Also at the event, past WASSCE questions in English and mathematics on the courtesy of MHR Fatoba was distributed to members.
The event ended with the cutting of the anniversary cake, presentation of token to winners of Matured Minds questions and answers and meals for members.
