Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji Sets Up Task Force Committee To Stop Fuel Scarcity in Ekiti

The chairman and the members of the committee took an effective step by meeting with the Petroleum dealers association in Ekiti

The Dealers confirmed that the scarcity at many filling stations in Ekiti was not restricted to Ekiti, but rather a nationwide challenge that had forced many stations to shut down sales, causing panic among people in the country.

In a bid to find a long-lasting solution to the issue of fuel scarcity in Ekiti, the Chairman of the committee, Adesokan Israel spoke to journalists after the meeting that the committee in collaboration with the Petroleum Dealers association with the help of the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, will ensure smooth dispense of products and prevent hoarding of the commodity.

The Ekiti State Government will henceforth monitor fueling station to ensure that everyone complies with the laid down rules and regulations to make transport amenable for people.

According to Adesokan Israel, any marketer found blameworthy of hoarding the product would be dealt with, emphasising that Gov. Oyebanji would not allow some unscrupulous elements within its fold to inflict hardship on innocent Ekiti

Jaru disclosed that tankers of petroleum were distributed to Ekiti between yesterday and this morning.

The chairman, therefore, appeal to the Ekiti citizens not to panic and to be patient with the government as it is committed finding a lasting solution to the fuel crisis.

Jaru said Gov.Oyebanji has put a strategy in place to prevent the hoarding of petroleum products in the State. The Petroleum being supplied to Ekiti would be more than enough for consumption as additional will be requested for.

He assured the people that the problem would not last long as the Governor is on top of the situation to ensure the availability of the product.

The Chairman said what has been causing long queues and gridlock are some people with more than two cars and jerrycans come to fueling station to buy fuel in order to sell at black market.

The chairman further by saying it is now offence to hoard Fuel, to alter meter, to sell adultrated fuel and to buy more than 10 litres into jerrycans at any filling station and anyone culpable will face the wrath of the law made by the State government.
