Following the official decanting of the current executive governor of Zamfara State, Gov Bello Matawalle from peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressive Congress (APC) and his immediate appointment as Zamfara APC leader by caretaker chairman Gov Buni, former Gov of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari, and Senator Kabir Marafa have kicked against the decision, saying that the newly decamped Gov Bello Matawalle can never be the leader of APC, in Zamfara State.
The two powerful APC members in the state, made this statement in an interview with BBC Hausa that, they will never accept a new decampee who just joined the party, to become their party leader. This interview came after the party leaders in the State, had a meeting with Kaduna state Gov, Nasir El-Rufai.
Yari Abdulaziz and Sen Marafa said they had earlier met with 6 other governors, to discuss the premise on which Gov Matawalle would be allowed into APC first and after that, another meeting will be conveyed where other critical issues about the leadership of the party in the state, will be discussed.
Sen Marafa made it clear that the appointment of Gov Bello Matawalle as leader of the party, was a scam that they will not accept or allow to stand. He went further to say that, some people can not just sit in Abuja and impose Matawalle on them as their leader saying, Gov Bello Matawalle entry into the party will escalate the party’s crisis.
Recall that Gov Bello Matawalle recently decamped to APC in Zamfara State and was received by the Gov of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni who doubled as caretaker Chairman of the party and 7 other governors.
Gov Mai Mala Buni in his capacity as the National Chairman of the party, declared Matawalle the APC leader in the state immediately he decamped to the party.
