Former Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs to former Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Femi Odere, has called on the governors of the southwest region to establish what he calls *Southwest Diaspora Commission.

He made this call in Akure on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022 after he received the *“Southwest Distinguished Diaspora Ambassador”* award by the “Southwest Heralds” magazine.

Mr. Odere emphasized the need for this Commission to compliment the economic development activities of the *Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission.

The former Ekiti State Diaspora Focal Person said that rapid economic development in the southwest should now be looked at very seriously by the region’s governors and that their still underutilized Diaspora population is a rapid response force for that task.

Odere said the award meant that his work was monitored which also means that the people behind the award are asking him to do more of it.
