Heritagenewsng reports that the Government of Ekiti state under the able leadership of His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi has begun gradual increment of subvention to subvented institutions in the state three months after such was slashed by fifty percent.
It also promises to begin payment of consequential adjustment of minimum wage for workers from grade level seven to eight.
Government had recently slashed subvention of institutions by fifty percent and withdrew the payment of consequential adjustment of workers from grade level seven to twelve for three months due to inadequate resources.
Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti after the three months requested by government for the financial cut elapsed, Commissioner for Finance in Ekiti State, Mr. Akintunde Oyebode explained that government hoped to restore the full subvention of the institutions and pay consequential adjustment to grade level seven to twelve before the end of the year as soon as the economy of the state improves.
He said the payment would be made as soon as all necessary paper work were completed.
Mr. Oyebode urged the affected institutions and workers to bear with government while he charged members of the public to always pay their tax and levies to enable government have better resources to fund its projects.
He disclosed that government was working hard to harmonize tax payment in the state.
According to him, the resources of the state was not enough to cater for the needs of people and government hence management and staff of subvented institutions must endeavor to manage their costs to the nearest minimum.
Meanwhile, Mr. Oyebode has denied the speculations that the state had received Paris refund for 2021, saying such was not true.
He said the government would continue to be transparent and open to the people.
