The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, (EKSU), Professor Eddy Olanipekun has described the university as a golden fish which has no hiding place.
Prof. Olanipekun made the statement while giving his speech at the Matriculation Ceremony held for postgraduate students for 2022/2023 academic session into various Programmes in the College of Postgraduate Studies of the University.
The VC however frowned at the avoidable delay being experienced by some students of the College of Postgraduate Studies of the University.
Specifically, he described the situation as worrisome and tantamount to waste of time and resources, expressing deep concern over a situation whereby some postgraduate programmes that were designed to run for two academic sessions would spill over to three sessions.
Prof. Olanipekun who pointed out that there has been a lot of developments and changes in the recent time, declared that his doors were open to accommodate interaction with students and supervisors whenever any delay was observed.
The VC, therefore, charged the new Management of the College under the leadership of the Provost, Professor Kemi Ogundana to leave no stone unturned at ensuring completion of postgraduate programmes at the stipulated periods.
He also advised the College Authorities to avoid communication gaps with the students by migrating them into the university portal with a view to creating rooms for online teaching, supervision and assessment, as practiced in most universities.
The varsity head who reiterated his administration’s readiness and determination to continue to give necessary support to the College, also expressed confidence in the new Management to take the College to greater heights.
While addressing the Matriculants, the Vice Chancellor advised them to play their own part in order to meet the target of completing their Programmes in record time through completion of registration formalities as and when due, adherence to university regulations and regular payment of approved fees among others.
The Matriculation Ceremony, held at the university’s Faculty of the Social Science Twin Hall, was streamed live via Zoom which gave opportunity to other matriculants to participate in their convenient locations.
