EKSG Throws Weight Behind Individuals, Organizations, Communities In Fight Against Gender-Based Violence

The Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro in her office on Monday 27th November said that as the world unites for the annual 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Ekiti State Government stands in solidarity with individuals, organizations, and communities globally to address the pervasive issue of violence against women and girls.

Under the theme “Unite! Invest to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls,” this year’s campaign underscores the critical need for collective action and sustained investment to eradicate all forms of gender-based violence. The 16-day period, from November 25th to December 10th, serves as a poignant reminder of the urgency to prioritize efforts aimed at creating a world free from gender-based violence.

Throughout these 16 days, Ekiti State Government will be hosting a series of events, workshops, and awareness campaigns aimed at fostering dialogue, education, and advocacy around ending violence against women and girls. Our activities will focus on:

– **Education and Awareness:** Empowering individuals with information and resources to recognize, prevent, and respond to gender-based violence.

– **Community Engagement:** Encouraging community involvement and solidarity to create safer environments for all.

– **Advocacy and Policy:** Calling for concrete actions and policy changes to address systemic issues perpetuating gender-based violence.

“The government commitment and urgency to end gender-based violence
and to combat this menace has been shown resently in the past few days where some sex offenders were prosecuted and convicted to life imprisonment.

” Together through unity and collective investment, we can create a future where women and girls live free from the threat of violence she said,”
