EKSG Pledges Support To Society Of Family Physicians

The Ekiti State Government has expressed the indispensable role of family Physicians in
every society.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr.(Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro made the remark while playing host to the Association of the Medical Practitioners in Ado Ekiti.

Dr. Adubiaro emphasized the unique role of the association in promoting public health. “The work of the association cannot be neglected or sidelined in our society, as health is indeed wealth,” she stated firmly.

She reassured the team that the governor of Ekiti, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji remains committed to the welfare of its citizens, including healthcare workers.

The Chairman, Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, Dr. Ibrahim Azeez highlighted the purpose of the visit, which aimed at enhancing advocacy and awareness on the theme of this year’s Family Doctor’s Day, globally celebrated on May 19th each year, the theme for this year is “Healthy Planet, Healthy People.”

Addressing sustainable development goals, Dr. Azeez outlined the Chapter’s initiatives, including a free health clinic campaign and a scientific conference focused on reducing emissions, promoting tree planting, and advocating against the use of fossil fuels.

He commended the recent efforts of the Federal Government of Nigeria in transitioning to non-combustive vehicles, aligning with the chapter’s objectives of improving environmental health and reducing the prevalence of infectious and communicable diseases.

Dr. Azeez emphasized the role of stakeholders in supporting government policies, expressing confidence in the collaboration with the government to achieve shared objectives.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both parties to work together towards a healthier future for the people of Ekiti State.
