Ekiti SSG Assures Journalists Of Robust Partnership

The Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro has received the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists with a call on men of the pen profession to be professional in the discharge of their duties.

Dr Adubiaro while receiving the NUJ executives in her office in Ado said that the role of journalists in a Democratic setting can not be underestimated.

Dr. Adubiaro who expressed joy with the visit said that this had further shown that their is a cordial relationship between the Union and the government.

According to the SSG, the visit will not be taken for granted and promised never to relent in her support for the union at all times.

“I am a lover of the press and I will always listen and attend to their needs at all time ” she said”.

She charged the Nigerian press to be objective in their reportage of events for a better society.

The Chairman of the Union, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela in his remarks said the union had always been supportive to the office of the SSG and promised to be relentless in their supportive to the office at all time.

The Chairman who listed some of the Union’s challenges to include the construction of a befitting Press Center call for the support of the SSG in realizing the vision.

” During the tenure of the present governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as SSG he has always been supportive to journalists in the state and wish the good relationship will continue during your tenure”

Mr Ojomoyela also seized the opportunity to expressed his concern and seek for the help of SSG in placing the information officers to the position of permanent secretary in the state civil service.

He noted that many of the officers are due to be in the Permanent Secretary cadre, saying such appeal was made during the last administration when a member of the Union was made the General Manager of the broadcasting service of Ekiti State.

“The information officer’s are the core journalists in the state information services, some of them are already in grade level that qualified them to become permanent secretary in the civil service”

The secretary to the state government in her response promised to stand by the Union and assured them that all their requests would be met
