The monarchs in a statement by the Council’s Chairman, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon CFR, on Thursday, begged the opposition to accept the court’s judgement and join hands in the task of building a virile and progressive Ekiti.
The traditional ruler, who also doubles as the Onisan of Isan Ekiti, said distraction to Governor Oyebanji through litigation can derail the focus of the current government and that time has come for all the citizens to give peace a chance.
The monarchs expressed confidence that the victory will spur the Governor into action and make him redouble his efforts to build a virile economy for all Ekiti residents.
The traditional rulers urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and act truly as statesman, by making rapprochement to the opposition and work together to build Ekiti.
“The Ekiti State Council of traditional rulers congratulates his Excellency, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji and his Deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye on this victory. We know that this was one victory that was well earned and well deserved in all ramifications.
“We want Engr Segun Oni and his supporters to perceive this judicial pronouncement as no Victor, no Vanquished. It was a victory for democracy and the rule of law.
“With this victory, we want the governor to see himself as the father of all Ekiti indigenes , irrespective of political affiliations. We know and convinced that Governor Oyebanji will align himself with this fact, so that governing Ekiti will be easier and more positively impactful for him.
“We are assuring our amiable governor of our continued support. We want all Ekiti citizens to also be committed to this ideal, because we have no other state we can call our own “, the monarchs said.
