The Ekiti State Council of Traditional rulers has called for fervent prayers for Nigerian leaders to be able to have the right thinking and knowledge to surmount the crises of insecurity and economic hardship confronting the nation.
The monarchs warned that Nigeria’s problems have gone beyond blame -game, saying what the country urgently needs is concerted efforts and committed spirit to be able to wriggle out of the current challenges rather than and buck-passing.
This admonition was contained in the monarch’s congratulatory message to Ekiti citizens, on Saturday, commemorating the Christmas festivity, and signed by the Council’s Chairman, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon CFR,FCTI.
Oba Adejuwon, who is also the Onisan of Isan kingdom, appealed to Christians to use this festive mood to offer prayer supplications for the success of the Governor Biodun Oyebanji and President Muhammadu Buhari’s administrations.
The First Class monarch added that as people wine and dine in celebration, they should fraternise and lend helping hands to those being afflicted with poverty as preached by Christ, who sacrificed all for the salvation of Christians across the world.
Oba Adejuwon urged Christian brothers to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and live in tandem with the doctrines of love, togetherness , sacrifice, piety, and unity preached by Christ, who is the symbol of Christianity.
“We congratulate all Ekiti citizens on the occasion of Christmas celebration. We urge them to live by the teachings of Christ, stating that life founded on corruption, material acquisition, selfishness and despotism is vacuous and a vanity.
“We are seriously confronted as a nation at this period with cankerworms of insecurity, inflation, social mistrust and ethnic cleavages, but they are not insurmountable as long as we remain committed to the virtues of Christ.
“Rather than engaging in blame-game, let us ruminate on our problems and coalesce efforts, thinking and knowledge with our leaders to rid the nation of all these problems, some of which are man-made.
“Nigeria can’t be enmeshed in these multifaceted crises if we are selfless, lovely, and strongly united as a people.
“What the birth of Christ teaches us are those virtues that can unite, progress and defend our common values and these must continue to reflect in our conducts and comportments for the birth of Jesus Christ to be fruitful in our lives as his adherents”.
