The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ekiti State chapter has condemned in strong term the assault of their colleague, Barr. Ayodeji Aina by an official of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp in Ado Ekiti
The assault reportedly took place at the NSCDC Post-office Division office in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday when the lawyer went to see his client
Speaking during a protest at the headquarters of the NSCDC office in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, the leadership of the Association described the attack as unprovoked, undignified and degrading
Dr. Michael Afolayan Esq, who led the protest appealed to the commandant of NSCDC to caution his officers and sensitize them on the need to have a smooth working relationship with the body of lawyers as it would boost the synergy between the offices thereby promoting peace and tranquility within the state
Dr. Afolayan charged the commandant to ensure strict discipline of the culprit administratively so as to serve as deterrent to others who does not understand the nitty-gritty of their jobs.
In his response, the commandants of the Ekiti State NSCDC, Mr john fayemi who describe the incident as worried and disturbing, said the office have commenced investigation into the matter
While assuring the lawyers a thorough and transparent investigation, Mr fayemi said the indicted officer will officer will be punished accordingly
