Ekiti Lawmaker Condemns Killing of NSCDC Operative, Abduction of Three in Ekiti

The lawmaker representing Ikole constituency 2 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has condemned the killing of one person and kidnapping of three by suspected herders on Saturday in Ajoni Local Council Development Area of the state.

Aribasoye said the killing of the man, Segun Ayebulu, an operative of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Abduction of three others was callous and wicked, and said such should be resisted by all lovers of peace.

Suspected gunwielding Fulani herders had killed the victim on Saturday and kidnapped three along Okeako /Irele road, in Ajoni LCDA, under Ikole Local government.

Reacting to the horrendous killing, Aribasoye called on the Ekiti State government and the police command to beef up security around the Ikole local government.

The lawmaker representing the area where the incident occurred, said the incessant kidnapping and killing of his constituents remained saddening and appalling and that he could no longer tolerate such .

The lawmaker averred that time has come for the federal government to accede to the request of Nigerians to the creation of a state police to tackle all manners of senseless carnages being perpetrated by criminals at the grassroots level.

He added that time has come for the state to also consider the option convocation of a “Security Summit” in Ikole Council area to fashion ways through Which criminals can be warded off from the already beleaguered area.

“I condemn in totality, the killing of the victim, Segun Ayebulu and call on government to respond to this with the same measure the criminals were using in dealing with Nigerians.

“With these killings and abductions, time has come for the FG to allow the creation of a State Police to allow states to control their own security architectures in dealing with these criminals.

“We must also consider the option of Security Summit in Ikole LG, so that we can brainstorm on how to tackle the security challenges in the area.

“Pending the time all these will be done, there is a need for security beef up around the area while the police and other sister agencies must track down the perpetrators of these criminal tendencies”, he said.
