Ekiti Guber: Oyebanji Begins Consultations, Pledges To Work For All

Following a massive welcome rally last weekend in Ado-Ekiti after purchasing his nomination form in Abuja, foremost governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has begun consultation visits to all the local governments and Local Council Development Areas of the state, pledging to work for the progress of Ekiti people.

He was led by party leaders, including Mr Samuel Abejide, Chief Jide Awe, Deji Ajayi, Folorunso Olabode, Dapo Karounwi, Chief Kemi Olaleye, Cyril Fasuyi, Chief Remi Oguntuase, Taiwo Olatubosun, Dr Yaya Kolade and Febisola Adewale.

Others included Oluwole Ariyo, Bunmi Awotiku, Bunmi Agunbiade, Bode Adetoyi, Folorunso Olabode, Segun Erinle, Tola Gboye Fakunle, Iyabo Fakunle, Tosin Aluko, Oluremi Ajayi, Abiodun Olanrewaju, Folorunso Ogundele, Dipo Akinwumi, Remi Osabusua, Femi Awe, Kehinde Bolics and Rotimi Ajidara, among several others.

Speaking in Ikole-Ekiti, Oye-Ekiti and Iye-Ekiti in the first leg of the visits to all the local governments, Abejide said there was no factionalisation of the party in the state, explaining that in Ikole- Ekiti, the consensus of opinion among party leadership was to support Oyebanji to enable the party produce a governor that will continue the good work of Governor Kayode Fayemi in government.

He explained that he had led the team to deliver the message of the party leadership to Ikole, Oye and Ilejemeje people.

Abejide thanked party members and supporters across the state for attending the event in large numbers, noting that the gesture represented Oyebanji’s acceptance to lead the state.

“Oyebanji’s aspiration is a collective project that started in Ikole party secretariat today. It is a challenge to us all to remain united in our resolve to ensure his success at polls,” he said.

Awe, who urged party unity to aid the success of APC at polls, expressed delight at the presence of top leaders of the party at the event. He counselled aggrieved members to unite to ensure Oyebanji’s victory, even as he assured that there would be enough to go round if the party succeeds.

He recalled that all victorious progressives governors in the history of Ekiti State held their consultation meetings at Ikole party secrerariat during their visits to Ikole-Ekiti, stressing that Oyebanji would not be an exception.

 

The aspirant, while expressing appreciation for the warm reception, said he was the ” “son of the soil” having had his primary, secondary and university education in Ekiti State.

He added that he was Secretary, Ekiti State Creation Committee, explaining that he had come forward to conclude the job he started with Ekiti leaders at a young age to fulfil his ambition to ensure progress for Ekiti people.

Oyebanji explained: “I have spent 11 years working with Ekiti State govermment since its creation 25 years ago and so I know the terrain and I understand what our people need. I have learnt the ropes from Governor Niyi Adebayo and Governor Fayemi and so if anybody is deceiving you that he will fix Ekiti State, ask him where he got his experience.”

He praised the Adebayo and Fayemi for laying a good foundation for the state development, stressing that he had come to complement the good works of the two governors, even as he said that a vote for him is a vote for continuity of Fayemi’s legacy projects.

Oyebanji pleaded with supporters to avoid violence against other aspirants, arguing that all members are from the same family that will work for the success of any aspirant that emerged victorious at the primaries.

All the council chairmen, commissioners, lawmakers at the National and state parliaments in the three local governments presented Oyebanji to the people as the best choice for the governorship election.

They urged supporters to vote for him at both the primary and governorship election in June 2022.
