The Ekiti State Government has approved over ₦4 billion for critical infrastructural projects across the state. These approvals were made during the State Executive Council meeting on August 26, 2024, as announced by the Honorable Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun.
To address the deteriorating condition of the State House of Assembly Complex, the Council approved ₦700,973,716.86 for its comprehensive renovation, which will also include the remodelling of the Assembly Service Commission building.
“This renovation is long overdue. The current state of the complex is not befitting of our legislative arm. With this upgrade, we aim to create a more conducive environment for legislative activities,” stated Rt. Hon. Olatunbosun.
The contract was awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited, with the project expected to be completed within 12 weeks.
Additionally, ₦2,715,567,471.24 has been allocated for the rehabilitation of the De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road in Ado Ekiti. This road project is expected to ease traffic congestion around Adebayo to Ekiti State University and support local businesses.
“We’re committed to improving our road network,” he emphasized, reflecting the administration’s focus on infrastructure development. The project, handled by China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is set for completion within 12 months.
In the agricultural sector, the government approved ₦177,937,500.00 for land clearing under the Youth in Agriculture initiative, which will clear 325 hectares across several Local Government Areas.
“Supporting our youths in agriculture is key to our vision for a food-secure Ekiti State,” Olatunbosun noted. The project will be managed by David-Moore Developmental Concept Limited under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Furthering its commitment to agriculture, the Council has also approved ₦229,000,000.00 for the procurement of tractors and other farm machinery to enhance productivity. AGCOMS International Trading Limited will supply the equipment, with the project expected to be completed in four weeks.
The government also ratified a contract worth ₦329,474,681.08 for the construction of a 100-bed hostel at Command Secondary School in Isan Ekiti, aimed at ensuring full boarding facilities at the school.
“This new hostel will provide our students with a conducive environment for learning and personal development,” Olatunbosun said, highlighting the government’s focus on education.
These projects mark significant steps in the ongoing efforts of the Ekiti State Government to enhance infrastructure, boost agriculture, and improve educational facilities across the state.
