The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed the State 2023 Supplementary Budget of over One Hundred and Thirty-Four Billion Naira on the floor of the House.
The passage of the supplementary budget followed the consideration of the report read by the Chairman, the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mrs Teju Okuyiga and its committal to the House Committee on Supply.
The budget which has an upward review of #21billion from the initial approved budget for the year 2023, comprises #96,630,521,471.72 for Recurrent Expenditure and #38,102,881,694.52 for Capital Expenditure.
The Speaker, Mr Adeoye Aribasoye commended the Committee members and lawmakers for the quick passage of the bill.
Also , the Speaker read Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s letter requesting for the screening and confirmation of Board Members nominees for the Local government service commission, House of Assembly Service commission and Audit Service commission.
The boards chairmen are Chief Alaba Abejide, Mr Kayode Fasakin and Mr Adebayo Adeojo to be supported by other members.
The house of Assembly has directed the nominees to submit thirty copies of their curriculum Vitae to the Assembly not later than next Tuesday.
Also during today’s plenary, the House engaged four local government council chairmen on their account of stewardship and to speak on the funds allotted to them in the councils’ budget.
The Councils engaged were Ijero local government, Ifeloju council development area, Ido/Osi local government, and Ikere local government.
The Speaker in his comment, declared that the exercise was in tandem with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and legislative duties of the House.
He noted that the exercise was not for witch hunting and, therefore, would not be blackmailed into abandoning its responsibilities.
