The echoes of the Egba United Government of 1898-1914 resonated at the Conferments Of Chieftaincy Titles as part of the 17th Coronation Annivessary of Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland As All The Monarch in Egbaland, Alake, Osile, Agura And Olowu, Converged At Ake In Conviviality To Celebrate One Of Theirs.
The 3-day event of 17h Coronation Anniversary of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland climaxed on Saturday 19 November, 2022, with Christian and Muslim Services and Conferments of Chieftaincy Titles on deserving sons and daughters of Egbaland.
The newly completed Adire Hall was filled to capacity with jubilant Egba Traditional Rulers, Chiefs, Honorees as well as friends and families.
The conviviality was so much that more seats had to be provided to accommodate guests in the 1,000 capacity Hall both at Friday and Saturday events.
This is why watchers of unfolding events concluded that the Adire Hall, Ake Palace, might have witnessed a modern re-enactment of the nostalgic Egba United Government of 1898-1914, when established with the assurance of the CMS.
Just as it happened in those times, four Head figures of Egbaland, sat together for the common good peace and progress of the Egba Nation in a most Concordial Company to celebrate Oba Adedotun Gbadebo’s 17th Coronation Anniversary.
The sight was a visible sign that there was cooperation and cohesion among the four Egba Sections as the Oba threw banters, participated in the conferment process stayed back throughout the event.
The Honorees of Friday 18 November 2022, stared the Chairman of Agege Local Government, High Chief Ganiu Egunjobi as the Otun, and his wife, High Chief (Ms) Ramat Olaitan, as Fadesewa; High Chief Rasheed Raji as Asipa, High Chief Sharaf Omotunwashe as Apesin Jagunmolu and his wife High Chief (Mrs) Sherifat Adekunbi as the Erelu Apesin Jagunmolu as well as Chief Honourable Anthony Olubanwo Ogunseye as the Lisemo of Egbaland, High Chief (Dr)AbdulAkeem
The Grand finale of the Chieftaincy Titles Conferments featured High Chief (Mrs) Bola Okedara-Olaoshe as Erelu Aje, High Chief Owolabi Mustapha as the Akinfiwatolu, High Chief Shamsideen Fasina as the Baagbile and his spouse High Chief Olufunmilayo, as the Erelu.
On Friday 18 November, 2022, the new Otun Egba, Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi and his spouse, rounded off their Conferments with a carnival-like reception at Abeokuta Sports Club’s Kensington Adebutu Legacy Hall.
The reception which hosted the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Egba High Chiefs, also had in attendance many captains of Industry, Government officials and top politicians.
