The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN, Ekiti State chapter has called on the state government to expedite action on plans to host the athletes who represented the state at the last National Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo State.
Rising from its monthly meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, SWAN noted that organising a reception for the athletes would serve as morale booster for them and an indication that they have not been forgotten so soon after doing the state proud at the National event.
The body of Sports Writers also commended the state Tennis Association under the Chairmanship of Mr Yemi Owoseni for being one of the few active and virile Sports Associations in the state.
The association lauded Hon. Adedeji Adesokan popularly known as Jaru for his Philanthropic gesture in the areas of donating sports equipment to clubs and organising/sponsorship of competitions.
Mentioned was also made of a football coach with the Head Coach of Agbonna FC of Okemesi-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government, Mr Joshua Fayese for his dedication and commitment to the game.
According to the association: “Despite his physical disability, Mr Joshua Fayese, a.k.a Coach Joe, has distinguished himself with the popular saying that there is ability in disability.”
