The National Executive Council Member of the Nigerian Bar Association representing Ado Ekiti branch of the (NBA) Olakami S. Falade Esq has called on National Assembly to as matter of urgency make a law that will Compulsory installation of CCTV in all schools particularly boarding schools in Nigeria.
Falade explained that if the CCTV could be installed in both classes and rooms, it would prevent falsehood in an event of any unforseen circumstances.
This is consequence upon the controversies surrounding the death of a 12-year-old student, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, whose parents insisted was violently abused by senior students of the school for allegedly refusing to join a “secret cult” in Dowen College, a secondary school located in Lekki, a highbrow area of Lagos state.
While sympathising with the family of the late student Barr. Falade urge the Lagos state government not just to put the school under lock and keys but that the Commissioner of Police and Attorney General to please do the needful it could do to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the student, saying it could be anybody’s child tomorrow.
According to him, “while I sympathized with the parents of the students over the incident, i want to say that this is highly unfortunate and disturbing, This has to stop.
“I called on our lawmakers in all legislative arms and in all sphere of governance to make a law for all schools, so as to prevent or stop this kind of ugly incidence in our schools, God bless Nigeria” .
