Declare State of Emergency On Ekiti Federal Roads Now -Reps Fatoba To FG

By Gbenga Sodeinde

The Federal House of Representatives member representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1, Hon. Fatoba Olusola Steve has expressed worry over the deplorable state of Federal roads in Ekiti state.

Fatoba, who raised concern over the Ekiti roads in a statement on Friday, called on Federal Government to declare a State of Emergency on all the Federal roads in Ekiti State.

He lamented that the situation of the roads was so bad that one could figure it to be not a part of Nigeria states based on long years of neglect and disrepair.

The Federal lawmaker called on his colleagues in the National Assembly representing Ekiti State to fight hard in a way that all stakeholders and particularly, President Muhammadu Buhari’s attention is drawn to the deplorable conditions of the Federal roads across the state.

Fatoba worried that the deplorable state of roads in Ekiti if nothing is done on it now,  would aggravate the security situation and would further suppress all efforts of the government on insecurity challenges in the country.

He then called on his colleagues at the National Assembly to make it a priority by bringing the ugly situation before both Chambers of the National Assembly, ensuring that no stones were left unturned to ensure that the roads are put in proper shape to make it motorable.

He said; “it is saddened and shameful that Ekiti Federal roads are as bad that non of the 12 Federal roads in the state is in good condition. I am saddened, and worried because no one would see us particularly at the National Assembly as doing anything on it except something urgent is done to save the current situation.

“I think it is high time that we adopt radical approaches towards ensuring that the Federal Government attention and particularly our President, Muhammadu Buhari’s attention is drawn to the worrisome state of Federal roads in Ekiti for urgent  and immediate action.”

“The deplorable condition of the roads could heighten the state of security in the state and by extension in Nigeria if nothing is done urgently. So we plead with all stakeholders and particularly, President Muhammadu Buhari to please step up action on Ekiti roads to ease transportation across the State”. He submitted.
