Cross Fertilization of Ideas Hallmark of Academic Profession –EKSU VC, Olanipekun

The Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun has advised academic professionals to imbibe sharing of acquired knowledge and professional experience with their counterparts both within and outside the university to expand the scope of their knowledge acquisition. This, according to him, was to maintain a continued relevance in the contemporary university system.

The Vice-Chancellor advised while giving his welcome address at a 2-day Retreat with the theme: PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES, organized by EKSU Consultancy Services Limited for academic staff of the university held at the university’s main campus in Ado-Ekiti.

The EKSU Helmsman, who described the resource persons at the event as great scholars of international repute, charged the participants to take the best advantage of the Academic discourse for the improvement of quality service delivery in the institution.

Professor Olanipekun used the occasion to assure the gathering that his administration would not relent in its determination to give priority to the welfare of both the staff and students of the university.

Earlier in her remarks, the Acting Director, EKSU Consultancy Services, the organizers of the event, Dr. Bolanle Eniola appreciated the Vice Chancellor for providing an enabling environment for training and re-training of the members of staff of the university. She added that her Directorate would continue to provide Consultancy services on contemporary issues relating to the university system.

The resource persons at the training included a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Idowu Olayinka who spoke on “ACADEMIC AND COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITIES OF LECTURERS IN THE UNIVERSITY”, Professor Ganiyu Oboh who handled the topic: “ADVANCED RESEARCH, METHODS OF WRITING PROPOSAL TO ATTRACT GRANTS AND FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACADEMICS IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES”, while the topic “EKSU LAW, STATUTES AND REGULATIONS: IMPLICATIONS FOR ACCEPTABLE CONDUCT, MISCONDUCT AND GROSS MISCONDUCT AMONG TEACHING STAFF OF THE UNIVERSITY” was taken by a former Registrar of the university, Dr. Omojola Awosusi, where he canvassed the generation of a database of offenders in the university system.

Also present at the retreat were Principal officers, Provosts of Colleges, Deans of faculties, and Directors among others.
