..Splashes gift items on orphanage, transit home
Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has admonished well-meaning Nigerians in Ekiti State and beyond to consider adoption of children at the orphanage homes to make them feel a sense of parental care.
The wife of Governor, stated this during a farewell visit to Erelu Angela Adebayo Orphanage home, Iyin Ekiti and Ekiti Transit Home and Vocational Centre for Women and Girls in Ado-Ekiti.
She explained that adoption of children was not a bad thing and should not be seen as an abomination as many paint it .
On the reason for her visit , Erelu Fayemi said, “these institutions have been under my supervision as the wife of the state governor. I see it as good idea to go round and see them again. It is incumbent on the first lady of the state to take the facilities as part of their responsibilities. I now wish to say goodbye to my children and wish them the very best “.
The Governor’s wife therefore advised the caregivers at the orphanage home to ensure that the children were exposed through excursion to important places in the state .
“There are places like the Obafemi Awolowo Civic and Convention Centre in Ado Ekiti , Fajuyi park , Government House, Ikogosi Warm Spring , Ekiti Cargo International Airport that these children can visit to give them some exposure, as long as security precautions are in place”, she said.
Erelu Fayemi also said that the Ekiti Transit Home and Vocational Centre was constructed for women and Girls in distress to live in for a period of time until they are stable and their issues sorted out.
“It is a two hundred and eight bed space where women and girls who are survivors of Gender Based Violence can come to stay for a while and also get free vocational training while staying after which we can give them survival funds to start businesses. This is one of the legacy projects of Dr Kayode Fayemi’s administration” she added.
Speaking, the Permanent Secretary ,Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development,Mrs Sola Adeluyi appreciated the kind gesture and prayed God to bless and protect the governor’s wife.
The governor’s wife donated gift items such as bags of rice, kegs of palm oil and vegetable oil, bags of semovita, toiletries, bar and toilet soaps , diapers , some cash among others.
The children at the ophanage and Gender Based Violence survivors at transit home sang and prayed for the governor’s wife for always coming to their aid at all the times.
