The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun, has described the late Odoba of Ado – Ekiti, Chief Alex Olu Ajayi as a philanthropist of rare breed.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs. Mr. Bode Olofimuagun.
The Vice Chancellor made the remark while on a condolence visit to the family house of the late Chief Alex Olu Ajayi at Odoba castle, Ado – Ekiti.
Professor Olanipekun recalled that the late Odoba ceded his mansion for the use of the university for its administrative and academic take off, adding that the singular act served as the template and impetus upon which a solid foundation was laid for the university.
The Vice Chancellor described Chief Olu Ajayi further as humility personified, a success facilitator and a role model whose name cannot be forgotten whenever the name of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti is mentioned.
The Registrar of the university, Mr. Ife Oluwole read the condolence letter written to the family stating that the deceased lived a life of integrity worthy of emulation.
Speaking on behalf of the family, one of the deceased’s son, Dr Afolabi Ajayi thanked the delegates from the university for the visit.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Babatola Ayodele prayed for the family on behalf of the university.
Members of the university Management accompanied the Vice Chancellor to pay the condolence visit.
