The joint task force made up of operatives of the NSCDC, Nigerian Army and the Police have intercepted a large number of the suspected fulani herdsmen who were coming to settle down in Kwara State.
This is contained in a release signed by the NSCDC spokesman in Kwara State Babawale Zaid Afolabi and made available to the newsmen on Wednesday.
According to Babawale, the herdsmen, who are in large number with some of their cattles were stopped at Erinle Offa axis end of Kwara- Osun State boundary on their way to Ajase Ipo, a town in lfelodun local government area of the State.
” On Wednesday 04/08/2021, at about 0700 hours, suspected fulani herdsmen, in their hundreds were intercepted at Erinle, a border town in Oyun local government area of Kwara State. It was a joint effort of the NSCDC, Army and the Police”. He stated.
The NSCDC image maker narrated further that the herdsmen and their cow were going to Ajase lpo, a town with a large concentration of fulanis in Kwara State.
” The suspected herdsmen were later led to Ajase Ipo by the JTF where further background check and profiling have been carried out by the appropriate security operatives” Babawale added.
In the meantime, the herdsmen have been allowed to remain in Ajase ipo pending the time all the necessary actions might have been taken and security has been beefed up in and around the town.
