Breaking! BAO’S Prepaid Meters Out In Subsidized Rates For Ekiti People

In commemoration of the two years anniversary of the Governor of Ekiti state Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration, five communities have been earmarked for the first batch of subsidized Prepaid meters which is ready to be delivered to the beneficiaries.

Governor Abayomi Oyebanji as part of his election promises to bring respite to the people of Ekiti especially the need to boost electricity supply and make it affordable to the good people of Ekiti State, the Governor through Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau implemented the yearnings and aspiration of the people by subsidizing electricity prepaid meters in Ekiti state.

The beneficiaries namely; Aisegba,Erinmope, Ode, Imesi and Ipole Iloro towns were well represented in the programme.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utility Professor Mobolaji Aluko in his speech urged the communities to coorperate with the BEDC and the manufacturing companies whenever they are in the communities to install the new meters assuring the people that the installation fees has been covered by the state governor.

” You dont need to pay anybody or any fees for installation All what is needed is your cooperation and continous support for this present administration.”

Professor Mobolaji also appealed to the representatives of the communities to sensitize their people on the need to ensure that electricity gadgets are safeguarded from vandals and criminal elements.

” We have over 72 transfomers already vandalized and we can’t continue to allow miscreants throw an entire town into darkness” he concluded.

In his own address, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Power Infrastructure, Engr.Philip Atere, urged the people of the communities not to hide the good tidings but expressed it to other communities who might want to partake in the ongoing electricity subsidy of Mr. Governor. He also took his time to answer questions and allay the fears of some representatives who complained of epileptic power supply in their town.

Mr. Atere assured them that electricity has been restored to the affected areas and once the prepaid metres is installed the communities will enjoy seamless supply of electricity.

In the same vein, the Executive Secretary, Electricity Regulatory Bureau, Engr Dare David announced to the visibly excited representatives of the communities that the Governor in fulfilment of his electoral promises has graciously subisdized the prepaid metres as single phase which originally was N 141,321 from the BEDC/NERC will now be made availabe for a token of N90,000 while Three phase which was N 258,657 will now be made available for just N 184,125 courtesy of his Excellency Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

It is also expected that other communities will take the advantage of the initiative and grab the opportunity to also enjoy the governor’s benevolence benefit from the subsidized programme of Mr. Governor.

He also appeals to other communities who might have interest to approach the office of the Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau(EKSERB) at phase v Bamidele Agbede Building State Secretariat Complex Ado Ekiti for registation and further information.

In her own words, Mrs Akin Afuye Moyosola the regional head of the Benin Electricity Distribution company urged the people to see electricity gadgets as their properties and should safe guard them jealously.

She also maintained that the people do away with uncertified cables or illegal connections which might cause a power surge or total damage of the metres.

The meeting was held at the Lady Jibowu’s hall in the state house and organized by EKSERB which is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the regulation of metering in the state.
In attendance were representatives of the MAPS namely; MoJec,Momas, Protogy and Wellsun.
The MAPS also sensitized the representatives from the communities on the companies that will be supplying their various towns and villages.

The leaders of each of the five communities expressed their readiness to comply with the guidelines even as they seize the opportunity to thank the Governor of Ekiti state Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji for restoring electricity in places like Ode, Aisegba and part of Gbonyin which has been in darkness for over 12 years.
