BRAZIL, IPOB and YORUBA NATION- Visions  Of The True Nigerians In Brazil

By Adeyinka Olaiya/Brazil

The clamor for rather separated Nigeria seems becoming serious  among some Nigerians living in Brazil.

In fact , It is no longer “a sidon look palaba “  as several separatist groups are emerging  in the Latin American country.

The ones that are connected with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would always claim  they are not from Nigeria again , comparatively a zoo in their group’s manifesto  . “ I am not from that zoo, I am from Biafra  “ Opara Solomon  would always sing to my hearings

The question is , if nobody in Brazil is a Nigérian again , then who actually is a Nigerian in Brazil ? Though It is nothing  new that most Nigerian Yorubas in Brazil wouldn’t accept any other option apart from an independent YORUBA NATION, the IGBOS  would do the same , they would always stand by their independent BIAFRA.

The situation is  getting serious that even the ones from the middle belt wouldn’t even want to be addressed as Nigerians because of the insecurity in their lands.

In fact , many  would call Nigeria  a  scam , a mistake , a crime  committed by Lord Lugard who deliberately amalgamated two incompatible entities , the North and the South to form a nation called Nigeria.

One wouldn’t deny the fact that  the ethnic , social and political distress  in the country  has also  triggered some Nigerians in Saopaulo to a non-stop struggle for independent states.

In Brazil , the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB)  seems  stronger in their activities as members  would constantly deny Nigeria , they would make rallies and claims in the streets of Saopaulo.

The Yorubas in Brazil would in the name of their Ancestral link , Oduduwa demand an independent YORUBA NATION  of their dreams.

While in a simple chat and asking  who actually is a Nigerian In Brazil , an aggrieved Yoruba man  shouted  at me “ Restructuring my foot. Please get out of my sight “ Olalekan Abass , a  Yoruba man  who vowed never to return to Nigeria again until the nation is disbanded , he said that Nigeria failed him , his family and his projects , he claimed to have worked as a street hawker in Lagos  , he said Nigeria never respected even his Masters degree in Administration.

“There is no reason to say that Nigeria is not loved by those of us living abroad , the problem is the country and the leaders who even were stealing and hiding palliatives from their citizens at a difficult Pandemic period “  Chinwe said in  anger and walked away.

According to a number of Nigerians in Brazil, the separatist movements in Brazil are not just emerging for nothing , they are also reacting to several of the government’s attitudes regarding the bad treatments of the Nigerians at home .

“A Nigerian parliamentarian recently denied listening to the request of a group of Tivs  in the diaspora (USA) who had solicited for a better condition from the government of Nigeria regarding the recent dislocation of their families from their communities in Nigeria”  Demola said and also asked if the Tivs are also Nigerians ? He gasped and walked away .

Are you really a Nigerian living in Brazil  or just from a tribe in Africa ? It’s quite painful to be a citizen of a country who despite seeing its citizens doing well in the cabinets of the United States of America, the United Kingdom , Germany , Italy and in several nations around the planet , yet nothing concrete is done to better the future of the young ones at home, nothing is done to allow this new generation to be part of a new Nigeria.

In the real sense of it , this is just the Nigeria  IPOB and YORUBA Movements are fighting against.

Prof. Banji Akintoye

They are fighting against the corrupt Nigeria, they are tired of a stagnant Nigeria, they are tired of a Nigeria without nothing to boast of in its 60 years of independence, they are fighting against the Nigeria who in the recent years are wasting the future of the young ones.

They are equally fighting against the Nigeria that recently slaughtered its  youths at the Lekki @ ENDSARS , they are tired of the Nigeria where life security is zero , they are fighting against the Nigeria where the leaders are never Patriotic, they are fighting against the Nigeria destroyed by the unknown caliphates.

This is no doubt that Nigeria is a great nation, a nation with great people and great minds, a nation having good citizens in the diaspora ready to make the nation great if allowed and treated as real citizens in the lands of their forefathers.
