A first division club in Brazil , Saopaulo Football Club has obtained a Nigerian soccer star , Azeez Olalekan Balogun , to reinforce its junior category against next football season
The Saopaulo state champion signed the 18-year-old Nigerian teenager on loan from a local club in Nigeria to play as a striker in its Under-20 football category.
Azeez is expected to arrive in Brazil next month and start training in Cotia with the other athletes from the São Paulo junior category led by the former Brazilian international, Alex.
Azeez was spotted by São Paulo in a youth tournament in Nigeria in May. He has since lifted the hope of the club that ended as Vice champion in the last under-20 tournament in Brazil.
Heritagenews found out that the Brazil club was invited to watch the junior category competition in Nigeria and was impressed with the striker..
“ He is a goal getter , a talented player , he will grow with us “ – Rodrigo Lameiras, the sports coordinator said at a press conference.
According to the sports director, Junior Moretto , “as at the time of signing , Azeez was 17 years old , Brazilian law does not allow to fix contracts with minors, so Azeez had to wait for his 18th birthday to make arrangements to come to the country.” he said .
According to the club , the agreement with São Paulo was signed in July for him to obtain a work visa. He is expected to complete the attacking force of both the junior category and the senior category of the club .
Azeez arrives São Paulo free of charge on trial , the club will decide until June of next year if it will fix a permanent contract with the youngster .To contract him permanently , São Paulo will have to spend US$ 100 thousand US dollars.
