Book Review: Ekiti First Lady Charges Society on Kindness

..as Erelu Fayemi Gives Insight to Her Life of Feminism

The spirit of empathy, kindness and sacrifice, among others, have been identified as some of the attributes an average Nigerian should possess to impact the society.

The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, stated this in Ado Ekiti at a book review titled “Where is Your Wrapper,” organized by The Book Club at Peace House in commemoration of this year’s International Women’s Day.

The Governor’s wife, who explained that women’s wrappers were personal possessions that could be used in helping the needy, noted that no matter how little, people should always be of assistance to their fellow human beings.

She eulogized the author of ‘Where is Your Wrapper’ saying that the book is colorful, attractive, with content validity as it teaches moral love and caring for others.

The author of the book and immediate past Ekiti Governor’s wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, said being helpful to society could be more rewarding than amassing personal wealth.

She said the book, which has eighty-nine poems and essays, also dwells on how women could be free to use their potentials to pursue future goals irrespective of their ambitions.

The convener of the program, founder of The Book Club at Peace House, and immediate past Head of Service, Mrs. Peju Babafemi, who advocated compassion, care for one another, and love as factors that could make society better, urged women to strive to overcome all limitations towards attaining greatness.

They enjoined the women to leverage the opportunity provided by the club, noting that only an informed mind could ensure rightful decision.

Also, in their remarks, the Special Adviser on Education, Science, and Technology, Dr. Bimpe Aderiye, President Court of Appeal Ado Ekiti, Justice Olutoyin Abodunde, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaja Abibat Adubiaro, reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing gender equality and creating a world where women can fully participate and benefit from the opportunities that technology and innovation present.
