Former Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi has declared his full support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second term bid.
He also stated that, “no automatic ticket” for anyone seeking election in the ruling APC for all State and National Assemblies’ elections”.
Fayemi who spoke on Thursday during the annual end of the year party held in his hometown Isan Ekiti which had in attendance members of the All Progressive Congress from various wards across the state.
Specifically , Fayemi stressed the need for members to brace up for the return of Governor Oyebanji in the election in view of his outstanding performance within just two years.
He commended Governor Oyebanji for the achievements recorded so far and for building on his legacy.
He however noted that the floor of the party is opened for anyone who is interested to contest against him for the number 1 position saying, ” I am a democrat, I have contested many elections in the state and in my last primary election, 32 others contested against me.
“So the floor is open whoever is capable, and strong enough to come out and challenge him, but as for me and my entire family, we for Oyebanji, and shall give him our full support for second term.Mi o le kole kin tun fowo mi tuka!!!! I can’t not destroy the house that I built by myself”
The former governor however charged party members at wards, local councils and senatorial districts to stand firm in support of the Governor’s continuity.
Responding, Governor Oyebanji thanked Dr Fayemi, his wife and other party leaders for the platform created for him to contest and become the Governor of the state.
The Governor said APC was united and progressing with no issue of defection of any member to the opposition adding that the expectations of members of the party and Ekiti people had been met in the last 24 months of governance, thereby making the party attractive to those in the opposition party.
