By Gbenga Sodeinde in Ado Ekiti
The Association of Nigerian Broadcasters (ANBROAD), Ekiti State Chapter, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his efforts that culminated in the approval of Ekiti State Cargo Airport to commence non-scheduled flight operations.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), in a letter dated December 11, 2024 signed by its Acting Director General, Captain Chris Najomo, said the approval of the non-scheduled operations under the visual Flight Rules (VFR) expected to be effective on December 15, is for a period of six months.
ANBROAD in a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Gbenga Olaniyan, noted that the governor has taken positive steps in bringing the airport project up to date by committing huge resources into it to make the commencement of flight operations realistic.
He said the airport when fully operational will be an immense benefit to the socio-economic development of the state while providing a conducive environment for industries to strive in the state.
ABROAD encouraged the governor, who reputed to be a go getter should not relax on his oars but remain focused on putting all machinery in motion to ensure that commercial flight operations commence at the airport without delay.
In his reaction, Evang. Bayo Famoroti, National Officer of the association, described the approval as a welcome development and a justification for the investment of the state in the airport project, designed to boost the socio-economic development of the state.
He said this development has silenced critics and proved that with determination, the seeming impossible becomes achievable; pointing out that the governor keeps breaking barriers and reminding the people that a greater Ekiti is within reach.
