An Open Letter to His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu On The Proposed National Youth Conference
President BOLA AHMED TINUBU
Aso Rock Presidential Villa
Abuja, Nigeria
Dear Mr. President,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. As a concerned citizen and a representative voice of the youth of our great nation, I write to express support for the proposed National Youth Conference, a timely initiative that could significantly shape the trajectory of our country’s growth and development.
Nigeria is home to one the largest youth populations in the world, and our young people hold the key to unlocking the immense potential that lies within our great nation. However, the youth also face numerous challenges, including unemployment, inadequate access to quality education, and limited opportunities for civic engagement. The proposed National Youth Conference offers a platform for addressing these issues head-on.
The conference presents an invaluable opportunity for our youth to articulate their concerns and aspirations directly to policymakers. By promoting open dialogue, we can foster understanding between the government and the younger generation, which is essential for building trust and ensuring that the policies enacted reflect the needs and desires of our youths. Encouraging their participation in the decision-making processes not only empowers our young leaders but also serves to cultivate a sense of responsibility and citizenship within them.
Furthermore, the conference could promote entrepreneurship and innovation among our youth. By creating workshops and mentorship programs, we can equip our young people with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing global economy. Investing in their education, providing access to capital, and facilitating networking opportunities will help ignite the entrepreneurial spirit within our youth, leading to job creation and sustainable economic development.
The proposed conference can also serve as a catalyst for social change. By encouraging the youth to engage in community projects and discussions about pressing national issues, we can foster a culture of active citizenship. Young Nigerians can take the lead in initiatives addressing health, environmental sustainability, and social justice, ultimately contributing to a more equitable and prosperous society.
This event should be used to define a mindset shift for the youths. Ensure we move from profit or personal gains to purpose, hierarchy to networking- building network for the posterity of our dear nation, controlling to empowering- the era of controlling is gone, but we must empower the younger generation to build prosperous and safe society, planning to experimentation with our great ideas- enough of planning, it is high time we began to implement our great ideas to return this country to greatness and break the shackles of poverty among the youths, privacy to transparency- This country will go far if we decide to be transparent in all our dealings as no nation is perfect. As long as we are all aware of our challenges, we can always come together to find a solution to our challenges.
In light of the above, I urge you sir to take bold steps to ensure the successful organization of this National Youth Conference. Allocate resources, engage stakeholders, and promote the conference across various platforms. Ensure that it is and representative of Nigeria’s diverse youth population so that every voice is heard and valued.
Mr. President sir, the youth of Nigeria are resilient, creative, and full of passion. By investing in their potential through initiatives such as the National Youth Conference, we have the chance to build a brighter future for our country—one marked by innovation, unity, and progress. Our collective efforts today will impact generations to come.
Thank you for considering this important initiative. I look forward to seeing our young leaders inspired and engaged in shaping the future of Nigeria.
Sincerely,
OLUPITAN B. ADEBAYO, MSc, MIPMA MCIA,MICA, CIPM, FLPi
