Prior to the end of the constitutionally 2 years tenure of the current officer holder of chairmanship position, Ado Central LCDA come December this year, various interests have begun to intensify. Among the aspirants jostling to succeed the incumbent Chairman is a former Supervisor in Ado-Ekiti local government and also a prominent party leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress from Ado-Ekiti ward 12, Hon. Sunday Olaleye.
Though, the state independent Electoral Commission in Ekiti has not officially declared open the contest but there have been series of some underground move by various aspirants and social media projection which is normal as a ground preparation.
Hon. Olaleye had of recent met with his ward executives of his political home, ward 12 to consult and inform them of his ambition to be the LCDA Chairman, Ado Central.
Having declared his aspiration, what we need to ask ourselves is that, is he the right person to give consideration to?
To answer this question positively or negatively it will be good to take a look at the aspirant and his activities from past to the present.
Sunday Olaleye graduated from University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University(EKSU) in 2004. He studied Business Administration and Management science.
He ventured into active politics in 1999 and served firstly as assistant Public Relation Relation Officer(PRO) and later as ward secretary in 2006. He furthered in his selfless service to the party by accepting to serve as one of the local government Excos of Ado-Ekiti local government.
The chairmanship aspirant in 2010 was appointed as Supervisor for Education. During his tenure of office, he served diligently to the benefit of the people.
Mr Olaleye since his foray into politics has been consistent and participated actively in all party activities. He loyal party member that always aligned with decision.
In 2021, when he first signified intention to run for the chairmanship position, some leaders in his LCDA prevailed on him to step down which he did out of the respect he has for party leadership.
In 2018, he was a member of JKF frontier, a political support group that worked vigorously for the re-election of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi. He worked as a loyal party man without being considered for any appointment but still remain firm and loyal to his preferred party of choice.
In 2021, when governorship election came up again, he worked vigorously in his ward for the incumbent Governor. He devoted his time and resources for the progress of the party.
Having laboured for his party, it is time to reward him and the time of reward has come.
With the above reasons, I believe Mr Olaleye stands as the right person to be considered for the chairmanship position, Ado Central LCDA.
We can’t claim that a particular person knows it without considering another person which can be more better. Ado Central LCDA needs needs a more capable hand that can move the LCDA forward. Mr. Olaleye fits in for the job.
